LED Headlight Bulbs in Egypt: H4 vs H7 vs H11, Prices, and LED vs Halogen vs Xenon

Short answer: the right LED bulb for your car is the one with the same base as the old halogen bulb; the code is printed on the bulb itself (H4, H7, H11, 9005, 9006, 9012, H1). Choose 6000–6500 K (white, not blue), real cooling (fan or copper braid) and a CAN-bus decoder if the car is a modern European or Korean model. In the Egyptian market (October 2026) generic kits start around EGP 400, branded kits around EGP 2,100, and Lalogo factory kits with a real 11,000–13,000 lumens per kit from USD 109 (≈ EGP 5,700).

1. How do I find my bulb base?

BaseTypical useNotes
H4 (HB2 / 9003)High and low beam in one bulb — economy and older cars with a single headlight bulbThe most requested base in Egypt; choose a Hi/Lo kit
H7Single-filament low or high beam — many European and Korean carsSome models need a retaining adapter
H11 (H8 / H9 / H16)Fog lamps and low beams on Japanese, Korean and US carsOne bulb usually fits H8/H9/H11
9005 (HB3)High beam on US-spec and Japanese cars
9006 (HB4)Low beam on US-spec and Japanese cars
9012 (HIR2)Low beam on some Toyota, Lexus and Honda modelsLooks like 9006 but the lock differs
H1High beam or low-beam projector on older models

2. Lumens, watts and kelvin — what actually matters

  • Lumens are the real light output. A stock H4 halogen gives about 1,000–1,500 lumens per bulb; a good LED kit delivers 3,000–6,500 real lumens per bulb. “20,000 lumens” on a EGP 400 kit is almost always inflated.
  • Watts indicate power draw and chip heat, not brightness directly; a real 130–150 W kit needs proper cooling.
  • Kelvin is the colour: 6000–6500 K pure white suits night vision; above 8000 K turns blue, cuts visibility in fog and attracts attention at checkpoints.

3. LED vs halogen vs xenon

4. CAN-bus errors and flicker

Cars that monitor their bulbs electronically (most European cars and some Korean models from 2015 on) may show a “bulb out” warning, flicker or switch the LED off. The fix is a CAN-bus decoder/resistor between the plug and the bulb. Tell us the model when ordering and we recommend the right kit.

5. Installation and aiming

  1. Disconnect the battery, open the rear cap of the headlight, twist and pull the old bulb.
  2. Fit the new kit’s retaining ring where the old bulb sat, then the bulb, with the LED chips facing left/right, not up/down.
  3. Secure the driver and fan outside the headlight and connect the plug.
  4. Aim the headlights against a wall after fitting; this is the most important step to avoid dazzling other drivers and to see properly.

6. When to replace the lens together with the bulb

If the lens is yellow or hazy, even the strongest LED loses 30–50% of its light in the damaged plastic. Replace the headlight lens cover first (from EGP 1,400) and then fit the LEDs; the result is a headlight that looks new with double the brightness.

Frequently asked questions

Are LED headlight bulbs legal in Egypt?

Forward lighting must be white or yellow and must not dazzle. A 6000–6500 K kit that is aimed correctly normally causes no problem, while blue light above 8000 K or badly aimed headlights can get you stopped at checkpoints.

H4 or H7 for my car?

Read the code on the old bulb or the owner’s manual. H4 is one Hi/Lo bulb, H7 is one bulb per function. Or send us the model and year.

Why are expensive LED kits better than a EGP 400 kit?

Better chips, real lumens, cooling that keeps the output and bulb life, and a CAN-bus decoder. Cheap kits dim or burn out within months and give a scattered beam.

Do LEDs overheat the headlight?

Far less than halogen at the lens, but the driver and fan need airflow. LEDs do not yellow the lens, but they cannot fix a lens that is already yellow.
